Football Association of Zambia, President, Kalusha Bwalya says FIFA Assistant Referee, Moses Mwale, who died this week will be greatly missed by the footballing community in Zambia, Africa and the entire world.
In a speech read on his behalf by Referees Manager, Katongo Kabungo, Kalusha described Mwale as an inspirational and dedicated person who wanted the best for football on the continent.
“From the time Moses joined the football ranks he did not look back and that is how he rose through ranks to the level of being recognised by the Football world Governing Body FIFA. In 2013 we all remember him being voted best Assistant Referee in Zambia” Kalusha emphasised.
Mwale will be most remembered for his excllent work in the COSAFA region where he officiated at every competition. His last international assignment was in Equatorial Guinea where he officiated at a Russia 2018 qualifier match between the hosts and Morocco in November.
Locally, his last duty call was at the 2015 Barclays cup final where he was the first Assistant Referee.
Moses, 44 died on January 24 after a short illness and was buried this morning at Lusaka’s Leopard’s Hill Memorial park.
