As we tour across the country we hear the words ‘we want change’ wherever we go.

People are tired of failed leadership and broken promises. They are the ones struggling to find jobs, keep children in school and afford meals for their families, while PF ministers dine out on extravagant trips abroad and blame others for their mistakes.

As we told the thousands who came to Mtendere grounds on Saturday in Kafue for our rally today, the UPND is ready to lead and take responsibility. We will not run away from tough decisions, debates or TV interviews. We will work tirelessly on delivering our 10 Point Plan that will benefit our people in numerous ways.

For the unemployed, we will get you job opportunities by attracting investment and supporting local businesses to grow. For those who want to start a business, we will help you make money because we want Zambians to succeed. For taxi drivers, we want to make life easier by increasing the lifetime of your licenses so they do not constantly need to be renewed. For our traders and marketeers, we want to improve your working conditions with shelters from the sun and proper sanitation to protect your health. For civil servants, police and all those in public service we want to end political interference in your work and make sure you are given what you have been promised.

The choice for Zambians on 11th August is clear. It’s a choice between a leader who plans and a leader who shies away from decision making; between a leader who consulates and communications and one who plays hide and seek; and between a leader willing to take responsibility and one who looks to shift it elsewhere.

As Kafue showed us today the time has now come to take Zambia out of reverse gear and move the country forward.
