Journalists raise more than K4 800 as tribute continue to pour in for Hamando

As tribute continue to trickle in for the late Sky FM journalist Choolwe Hamando who passed on two days ago, fellow journalists are raising funds for her kids’ schooling.

She is survived by two children.

Meanwhile, since she was a member of a WhatsApp group that comprise fellow Zambian journalists, they have started donating towards her funeral and her children’s welfare.

More than K4 800 have been raised so far.

The group said more donations are expected today and that some of the money would go towards funding her children’s schooling.

Meanwhile, the Zambia Institute of Independent Media Alliance ZIIMA has sent its condolences message to her family.

In its message, ZIIMA said it has been saddened by the demise of Hamando.

The Alliance described Choolwe as a very intelligent and gallant journalist who was dedicated to duty with passion.

ZIIMA said the loss of such a vibrant, young and talented journalist is a big blow to the media in southern province and the country as a whole.

Southern Province ZIIMA Coordinator, Mastone Moonze said;

“We remember Hamando of her professional conduct during the popular governance program on Sky FM called SKY FORUM.

“AS ZIIMA in Southern Province , we convey our heartfelt condolences to her family , board and management of SKY FM and the entire media fraternity in Southern province.”

Moonze added: “It is our hope that in trying times such as these we all join hands and work to together to support and comfort the family and also SKY FM management.”
