Opposition UPND in Southern province has dismissed stage-managed defections by Patriotic Front (PF) saying no one would want to go into a burning house in reference to the PF.

The PF of late has seen a number of senior members including a cabinet minister quit citing corruption.

Davies Mwila

Giving an update on the tour of the PF Secretary General Davies Mwila to Southern province last week, UPND provincial deputy spokesperson Neto Halwabala described the trip as a flop.

Halwabala said one former Aspiring Member of Parliament for Monze Central had to be made to defect for the second time.

“As UPND in Southern Province we are surprised to see Mrs.Munachongo Mutelo, a two time aspiring member of parliament for Monze Central Constituency resigning from UPND twice within two months to join PF.

In December last year(2017) when PF president Edgar Lungu was launching planting season, Mrs.Mutelo was among those Mr.Lungu introduced as a new PF member who resigned from UPND but again in Monze this week, she paraded as a defector from UPND to join PF.

She is a perpetual defector, such action as UPND does not shake us especially that; she left the party after being left out from adoption,” Halwabala said in a statement below.

PRESS RELEASE

LET TRUTH BE TOLD

————————————-

Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Mwila’s tour to Southern Province was a total sham and a political disaster.

Contrary to what is being reported in the public media, Mr.Mwila drew a political blank in Southern Province for failing to recruit members.

He did not attract political meetings to general members of the public.

Let alone he used political propaganda and threatening permanent secretaries and district commissioners in the province after failing to hit political solid ground for UPND.

As UPND in Southern Province we are surprised to see Mrs.Munachongo Mutelo, a two time aspiring member of parliament for Monze Central Constituency resigning from UPND twice within two months to join PF.

In December last year(2017) when PF president Edgar Lungu was launching planting season, Mrs.Mutelo was among those Mr.Lungu introduced as a new PF member who resigned from UPND but again in Monze this week, she paraded as a defector from UPND to join PF.

She is a perpetual defector, such action as UPND does not shake us especially that; she left the party after being left out from adoption.

We want to help the nation know that those who are frustrated and leave the party because were left out from adoption for elective positions in the last general elections is a sign of political nomad in the UPND.

And Mrs.Mutelo is one example and this kind of defection is common to a political party in particular the PF which is on its way to political grave.

Let truth be told; PF is non-existent in Southern Province and it’s not surprising to hear permanent secretaries and district commissioners being threatened and be in charge of PF’s political mobilisation failure to do so they risky being fired.

But as UPND in Southern Province we want to give a timely advise to PF Secretary General Davies Mwila that civil servants are not paid for political activities on behalf of the party but to deliver services to the public regardless of political affliation and that they are paid tax payers money not PF money.

And as such Mr.Mwila has no authority in his capacity as PF Secretary General to warn civil servants in Southern Province.

It is important also to state that his trip to Southern Province together with his entourage was a big disaster, they failed to convince people to join PF.

The meeting in Kalomo flopped only a few PF officials turned up while in Choma party officials were told to bring family members to increase the numbers.

In Sinazongwe Richwell Siamunene former MP tried to mobilise but all in vain. They ended up having a meeting in council chambers and they hoped that council employees will increase the number but they refused to be part of it.

In Namwala it was embarrassing ,people were just looking at them like Fishermen trying to fish from a dry river or fish pond.

PF is a political shell now,how can they expect the people of Southern Province to join the party after killing agriculture?

UPND in Southern Province is growing like bush fire and PF’s attempts to lobby support is like a person inviting a visitor to enter into his or her house on fire.

PF is a political burning house and no one would genuinely like to join a dead party.
