TOP Zambian referee Janny Sikazwe has been named as one of the center referees to officiate at the 2022 Qatar Fifa World Cup which will run from November 21 to December 18th.
According to the list of referees selected by the FIFA Referees Committee, Sikazwe who is set to officiate the CAF Confederations Cup final over the weekend will be joined by some of Africa’s best whistle men who include South Africa’s Victor Gomes who was in charge of the last two AFCON finals and renowned Gambian referee Papa Bakary Gassama.
Fifa has selected 36 referees, 69 assistant referees and 24 video match officials (VMOs) who have been chosen in close cooperation with the six confederations, based on their quality and the performances delivered at FIFA tournaments as well as at other international and domestic competitions in recent years.
