“It’s madness!” – Kambwili trashes Mosho’s K5m claim

Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili has described the K5 Million demand served on him and his Mazabuka counterpart Garry Nkombo by Lusaka lawyer Lewis Mosho as “madness.”

Mosho of Lewis Nathan Advocates has written to Kambwili and Nkombo giving the duo a 48-hour ultimatum to pay legal costs amounting to K5 Million or face bankruptcy proceedings.

The two parliamentarians were on May 24, 2018 condemned with costs by the Lusaka high court after it dismissed their application to join a case in which a PF cadre Robert Chabinga challenged the speaker’s decision to accept the impeachment motion against President Edgar Lungu.

Chabinga has since instructed his lawyer Mosho to remind the two parliamentarians to settle the amount, failure to which he will ask the court to declare them bankrupt.

But Kambwili has dismissed the sum being demanded by Mosho as a joke, asking him to “behave like a lawyer an not a politician.”

“You go to court and make one application to be joined to the case and it is dismissed, you ask for K5 Million, I should have been a lawyer!” Kambwili quipped, adding “And I think all lawyers could have been flying by now, so tell Mosho to behave like a lawyer and not play politics. Because lawyers are supposed to live above board and have integrity in everything they do but if Mosho wants to come on the political scene he will be bruised because we are ready for him.”

Kambwili says he is aware that Mosho is President Lungu’s surrogate who does “some transactions” for the head of state and warned him that his time for reckoning will soon come.

“For him (Mosho) to come on the political scene, into our lane….tell him is welcome. Because you can not go to court….one application takes 10 minutes in court and you ask for K5 million! Tell him that that is Madness!” Kambwili told journalists outside at the Lusaka Magistrates Court on Monday.
