Edwin Lifwekelo being welcomed to PF

Barely a week after defecting to the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) former United Party for National Development (UPND) deputy spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo has slighted his former party by celebrating its loss in the just ended general elections.

Lifwekelo, one of instrumental individual during campaigns suddenly ditched the party and rejoined the ruling PF, a party he helped form but abandoned in its early years despite being its secretary general.

In an exclusive interview with a local tabloid, Lifwekelo said it is good that the UPND lost the elections and thanked God that such a “vindictive” party did not form.

He said it would have been a tragedy had the UPND won the last general elections because the kind of vengeance and retribution its leadership had planned would have completely dismembered the country.

And Lifwekelo has fingered those who defected from PF earlier as the main contributors to the UPND’s loss in the elections. H e claimed the clique of Guy Scott, Miles Sampa, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Mulenga Sata and Nevers Mumba largely contributed to the defeat that Hakainde Hichilema suffered at the hands of President Elect Edgar Lungu.

He also said Zambia is much safer  in the hands of  Lungu and that had the UPND won, the country could have gone through the worst forms of political victimisation and economic tribulations.

He also said Zambians had made the best decision to re-elect  Lungu and that he was delighted to return back to the party he helped

Lifwekelo also accused UPND leadership of being ‘‘gravely bitter’’ and  that they had yet again been rejected by Zambians . He said he  was aware more than two years ago that the UPND was never going to win the general elections.

Lifwekelo said his time had come for him to rejoin the party he belonged to and that on more than two occasions, Late President Michael Sata had invited him but had refused because he was waiting for the right time.

“I have just gone back home where I belong as a prodigal son. Late President Sata invited me more than twice to work with him but I told him let me be the other side. I have been interacting with President Lungu who had also called me and wondered why I did not want to be in the party I helped to form.

‘‘Records are there that the PF was registered in my name and I just want to work with President Lungu. Zambia is safer in the hands of President Lungu and had the UPND won the last general elections, we would have seen the real Armageddon but thank God Zambians voted for President Lungu and the PF,” He said.

He has also  revealed that many people in the UPND were only waiting for the outcome of the petition by Hichilema and  Mwamba who have petitioned the re-election of  Lungu before we experience mass defections

Lifwekelo appealed to the people of Southern, Western and North-Western provinces to reflect deeply because Zambia was much bigger than the three regions.

He said he was disappointed with UPND general secretary Stephen Katuka who claimed he (Lifwekelo) had resigned because of poverty.

  7. Bo Lifwekelo mumahata if you knew we were going to lose even before the election, what did you do to help the party win? If Sata invited you more than twice, what right time were you waiting for? In fact if we lost, which I doubt we did, you are solidly behind the loss, you idiot, MASIPA a hao.

You make an interesting case study of political who’re mongers. You are so unprincipled and a thorough joke. I wonder at times what goes on in the heads if some politicians. Lifwekelo be true to yourself and one thing who has told you the decision of the con court before they have sat? You are exhibiting a characteristic of a sinile man requiring an urgent brain scan.If you Lifwekelo wanted to rejoin the party you have always believed in don’t burn bridges before you cross them.Wake up nitwit. And I urge PF members to be weary of such people.

  13. Lifwekelo you are just a job seeker from president Lungu. There are many people who contributed a lot to PF and campaigned for president Lungu than yourself Lifwekelo. Here in Mongu, there are people who founded PF and worked hard for the party and campaigned for president Lungu but they have no jobs. Iam a UPND cadre in Mongu.

  14. Edwin is not working. He has no job. He had hoped that if UPND won, he would get a job. It is about hunger. When u subject few individuals to hunger, that is when u know their character. Few coins of gold and silver from corrupt PF are confusing him

He used to ask for money from me. I know him. Perhaps also sickness has contributed.

  15. Mjb, am sure you are a Zambian but am starting to doubt your Zambianship because of your comments. You cannot comment without an insult, why bro. Let’s hear sensible comments, contributions, sugestions or questions if anything than insults which can never be a solution to any problem. Be patriotic bro.

  19. Iwe Lifwekenyo your words are very much annoying.Which Zambians rejected HH and the UPND? If you want job from ECL go to his shebeens or bars for we are tired of silly people being in public offices. When many Zambians are crying for their stolen votes, you are there spewing rubbish. If the Concourt will follow the right procedure you will be surprised that ECL really stole HH`s votes. After all only removing the 8000 Lunduzi extra votes already he will be disqualified.Your language is opposite to what the UPND will do to this nation.HH can not be bitter today when they have been stealing his votes .
