Its a morale booster, Zambia Coach says of Chan win over Zimbabwe

Zambia has beaten Zimbabwe in the first game at the 2016 CHAN tournament taking place in Rwanda.


And Zambia Coach George Lwandamina has described the victory as a morale booster adding that Isaac Chansa and Chris Katongo played an important role.


“The experience of Chris and Isaac was very good for the team and they worked well together,” Lwandamina said according to


“It was very important for us to start with a win because it will shape our destiny and bring morale in the team. We won’t relax. We still have games so we will work more and more.


“First games are difficult but if you manage three points, it’s very important. Kudos to the boys, my staff and the president of FAZ and executive,” he said.


Meanwhile,  goal scorer  Isaac Chansa thanked the coach for giving him and Chris the opportunity to represent Zambia at the 2016 Chan competition.


“I can say congrats to the coach for bringing us in the team and I think winning first game will give us confidence going into next games.


“We’ve lots of young players with lots of energy. We keep working and we keep on sharing with the young that hard work and good team spirit pays,” said Chansa.
