MOVEMENT for Multiparty Democracy Provincial Women chairpersons have called for the immediate resignation of their national women chairperson Catherine Namugala for calling for the firing of the party president Nevers Mumba.

In statements that were issued from their various offices, the chairpersons said Namugala had no right to tell the party president who was democratically elected to go.

Western Province MMD women chairperson Wamunjima Malamu said a disoriented person who wanted to bring personal issues in to the party. She said it had become clear from the statement that was issued by the National Women’s chairperson that she was not fit to be in that position hence there was need for her innidiate expulsion from the party.

She said the claim by Namugala  that the women movement wanted Dr Mumba out of the MMD was not true because women from all party structures were still in support of the party president.

MMD Mandevu constituency chairlady said there was no need for Namugala to drug the women into erroneous plans because they were not interested.

And Eastern province chairlady Matha Mulenga said there was need for the party to discipline Namugala immediately so that she does not continue bringing the party’s name into disrepute. She said women at the grass root were behind the Part president and were going to support him at all cost.

She said Dr Mumba still had a long way to go as party president since he was elected to save for a 5 year term and had not even done half of it.

Meanwhile MMD national secretary Kapembwa Simbao has warned his members against commenting on party matters as those who would be found doing so risked being punished.

Simbao  said most comments that had been issued by party members in the recent past had done more damage than good to the party.

On Thursday, Namugala who is also Mafinga MP said MMD president Nevers Mumba had to go because he was not the right person to lead the party.

  7. Namugala was heavily bonked by MUTATI. No wonder she supports Mutati to lead MMD.

Mutati lost to Nevers, he was thumped. The best for Namugala is to resign if she so wishes.

namugala, Mutati and other turncoats can sell MMD. They are not fit to lead MMD.

Nevers u were voted for a 5 year Mandate. Re group MMD and rebrand it so that it can take up the rightful Mantle to lead Zambia again. Sata wants a user friendly MMD President whom he can manipulate. Some one with a case in court over bicycles who cannot talk. Ba Kaingu remain steadfast.Be the Pillar of MMD. Too many vultures and sellouts in MMD.
