It is clear PF actions is to destabilise peace – HH

It is now increasingly becoming clear that some of the actions of our colleagues in the ruling PF are destabilising the peace and unity that this country has enjoyed over 50 years.

As UPND, ordinarily we would not delve into the intra-party wrangles of our competitors as we regard such as purely internal affairs. Our priority is to continue our campaign, spreading our message of a united Zambia.

We are now called upon to provide leadership for Zambia that has been lacking through this government in-fighting.

And whilst they fight amongst each other, Zambians all over the country are looking for leadership as they continue to suffer. The government seems to have forgotten that they are still meant to be governing our country. The priority has to be to guard the peace and unity at all costs.

We do not see any need in abrupt changes in the government structure such as agitation to have the current Acting President Guy Scott be removed unconstitutionally and replaced. Whatever people think of Scott he is legally mandated to manage this transition.

This country is now barely 30 days before the elections and our wish is to smoothly and peacefully complete this process without any disturbances to the government operations.

The Acting President, Guy Scott’s call to guard against abusing state resources during campaigns is a welcome move.

For now, we know the PF have no clear campaign message or vision for our country, but our appeal is for them to at least run the government smoothly during the remaining days before the election to serve our people.
