Irate residents set fuel tanker on fire

Irate residents have set ablaze a fuel tanker after it ran-over a pedestrian near Trade Fair Grounds in Ndola of the Copperbelt Province.

According to an eye witness, the driver suspected to be Somalia national was over-speeding and lost control before hitting a pedestrian who was standing on the opposite lane.

The Pedestrian died on the spot and was trapped under a wheel of the truck. The body was only freed after about 30 minutes with the help of a crane organized good Samaritans.

The driver fled and as the body was being driven from the scene, the angry mob descended on the fuel tanker and set it ablaze. The Police watched helplessly. It took over an hour for the fire fighters to reach the scene.
