I MEAN IT, I AM TRULY SORRY, FORGIVE ME, YOU WILL SEE A DIFFERENT APPROACH FROM NOW ONWARDS

===================

Chilufya Tayali

This is the statement I wrote, which I delivered this morning. I mean every word in this statement, please accept it and stop the negativity.

We would congratulate Zambia Center for Inter-party Dialogue (ZCID) and the Church for finally agreeing to work together in fostering the dialogue and reconciliation process in our Country.

We are pleased that, ZCID will facilitate the process while the Church will Chair since they are more neutral among all the stakeholders.

We would also like to congratulate President Edgar Lungu and the leader of the main opposition, UPND, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, for their commitment to this process without putting any conditions.

On behalf of Economic and Equity Party (EEP), and my own behalf, I would like to be among the first to also commit to this process and actively participate in all the activities.

However, e would like to appeal to both leaders, as well as other political players to be more pragmatic than theoretical. Lip-services will not help this Country to go forward; therefore, all of us need to be coherent in what we say along this process.

In that regard, I, as leader one of the political leaders who has been part of the controversy and conflicts in our political sphere, we would like to go further than just commit, but take practical steps towards a successful dialogue and reconciliation process.

Therefore, I am asking for forgiveness to all those that, I, as an individual or leader of EEP, may have offended, or injured, or inconvenienced in any way in either my conduct or statements.

Particularly, I would like to ask forgiveness to:

1. Hon. Given Lubinda and his family and all those connected to him who may have been affected for my statement in March of 2016. I unreservedly apologize and hope Hon. Given Lubinda will find it in his heart to forgive me. I want us to get back to the friends that we were other than the soar relationship that exist between us.

2. President Edgar Lungu and his family as well as the entire PF and other citizens that may have been offended or inconvenienced for a number of statements that I have issued at different times. I ask for his forgiveness and pledge to engage better with his as a Republican President.

3. President Hakainde Hichilema, his family and the entire UPND as well as other people that may have been injured for whatever I could have said. I will looking forward to engage with Mr. Hichilema on a brotherly note and learn something from him since he has been in politics for a longer period.

4. National Economic Forum (NEF) Board and its members for the statements that I issued relating to UNZA riot. I ask for their forgiveness as I retract the entire statement.

In the same vein, I apologize to the family of late Vespers Shimunzhila for whatever I said that offended them or inconvenienced them.

Connected to that issue is Mr. Edward Sichalwe, I retract all that I uttered on the UNZA riot.

5. Dr. Chishimba Kambwili and his family for whatever statement I may have issued which injured him and all those connected to him.

5. To the Zambian citizens and the general public for anything that I could have said and it offended or inconvenienced you, I am deeply sorry.

My apologies are without reservation in trying to change my way of doing politics and engaging with the public, recognizing that, this Country needs to change in the way we do politics, and it has to start with me.

NATIONAL DIALOGUE AND RECONCILIATION IS NOT JUST FOR PRESIDENT LUNGU AND MR. HAKAINDE HICHILEMA

From my apologies above, it should be evident that the dialogue and reconciliation process is not just between President Edgar Lungu and Mr. Hichilema but among and between all political players.

Therefore, I urge all other political players to take an introspection of whom they might need to be engaging for whatever differences they may have so that, this process can be effective.

On my part, I will endevour to meet some of the people that I have mentioned above to personally apologize and pledge to engage with them positively.

In conclusion, I would like to thank all those people that showed sympathy and support when bailiffs took most of my Household goods.

I would like you to know that, the actions of the bailiffs is not political, but an ordinary debt which I had to Mr. Kaweche Banda. I apologise to Mr. Banda for the inconvenience which led him to take action on me through the courts.

I have nothing against Mr. Banda because he was within his right to send bailiffs on me for him to recover his money.

MAY GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY AND IT’S PEOPLE
