Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema (HH) has warned the PF Government over the plan to have more people in their stronghold get NRCs to tilt the results in 2021, reports Zambian Eye.

In his latest tweet, HH says PF will not just be stopped but he would ensure the law visits them when he forms government.

‘The PF Secretary General openly stated that they are pushing NRC registrations in their strongholds in order to tip the scale in their favour. Things will be different this time. We will not only stop you but the law will visit you when we take office. Mark my words. #Zambia’

PF Secretary General Davies Mwila this week in Northern province told party officials to go flat out to ensure people get NRCs and register to vote in numbers to counter UPND.

Mwila said the exercise was going on well in other areas where he explained that 45, 000 people had gotten NRCs from one Chiefdom.

He said it was not acceptable that Luapula, Muchinga and Northern cannot wipe the votes from Southern province. He said that if the exercise is carried well just Eastern province will counter the votes from Southern province.

Southern province is one of the strong support base for the opposition UPND. In the last election it recorded 90% vote turn out and in terms of voter registration it is ranking third after Lusaka and Copperbelt province.

The PF was declared winner of the disputed 2016 election with a difference of about 100, 000 votes.
