President Lungu

President Edgar Lunga has urged opposition UPND leaders Hakainde Hichilema and his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba to now move on and accept the loss of elections in August 2016.

Speaking today, Wednesday at State House when he held a luncheon in honor of the victorious Under 20 National team, President Lungu said he knew how it feels to lose because he had lost before. He said it is painful to lose and that is why his opponent, Hichilema has still not accepted the outcome of the elections.

President Lungu however appealed to the UPND leaders to now move on and join the country in celebrating the winning of the Africa Cup by the Junior Chipolopolo Boys.

He said Football helps uniting the country and said he hoped politicians could learn to accept the outcome of elections and still live as one people.

And President Lungu applauded the team saying they had made the country proud. He said the unite exhibited by the team was exceptional and he urged them to continue with the same spirit even as they participate in the Korea World Cup slated for May.

President Lungu promised that though his government is broke it will ensure that the team is provided financial support. He said boma  (government) inzayanganapo  (look into the needs of the team).

The President also advised the Boys to remain focused in the midst of the victory especially that they may be tempted into signing contracts that would ruin their career. He appealed to parents and managers for the players to give guidance to the boys so they are not detracted from their football careers.

  2. Lungu cannot talk of Winners or Losers of the 2016 Election becoz nobody knows what happened. The Election Results were Petitioned and until that Petition is heard, determined and a new Winner is declared by the Court there is No Legitimate President in Zambia. Lungu should prove in Court how he won the Election when ECZ did not issue all Gen 12 Certificates? Why did Lungu block the Hearing of the Petition? Why did Lungu refuse to handover power to the Speaker of Parliament while the Petition was in power? Yes Lungu stole the Election and is clinging to power illegally. The Petition must be heard. Lungu Ayopa Chani? #Let the petition be heard without fail.

  3. Lungu is a troubled soul not really enjoying being in plot one and also not delivering for the people of Zambia! He seems to have no clue as what it takes to be a statesman or where appropriate to deliver messages with a unifying intent! The president has a tepid approach to issues of importance thus an impotent leadership! Its too late to urge the opposition to now move on for he should have had the wisdom to utilize the opportunity to deliver a strong message of unity the very time he was declared winner of the elections and then to obey the constitution knowing very well the courts were still going to hand it to him! His poor actions and judgement has led us to this point we currently are!

  4. Why did Lungu refuse to handover power to the Speaker of Parliament while the Petition was being heard? Once the Petition was filed to Concourt the ECZ declaration of Lungu as a President Elect was nullified hence the need to handover to the Speaker of Parliament.

  6. People ought to understand that HH has taken a principled view that such such electoral malpractices do not ever happen in Zambia again. His appeal is not solely motivated by the desire to occupy the highest office in the land….which is where he probably should be, but to right the wrongs which this den of thieves has brought upon Zambia. Surely we dont want to go the Zimbabwean or MU7 route. Zimbabweans kept quite when Mugabe was slowly eroding their demcratic rights to elect leaders….look at where they are now!! We need to support HH for his gallant fight to restore order and constitution democratic in our country. We got rid of mighty KK when he started to deprive us of our democratic rights with such impunity. Let us support HH all the way to final conclusion of this case through the courts. Look at the behaviour of the PF leaders to day!! Do they behave like winners? No they behave like thieves. How can someone with a clear conscious talk about a polical matter that is before the constitutional court at the luncheon of cup winners ..zambia? Was that the right forum? Why is he so soon respositioning himself for a third and possible fourth term amidst all the economic and social problems that zambia is going through? Please Zambians do not give our beautiful country to these inept and thieving idiots.

  7. I’m wondering what the connection is between the event he was hosting and what he said. The President must learn to be appropriate whenever he is hosting some people. His speech was not appropriate for the occasion, therefore he was not in order.

  8. @PM.Your comments are spot on. The Petition is more about the Future of our Constitutional Democracy in Zambia than it is for HH,GBM & UPND. Lungu says HH should move on to where? Move to another stolen Election in 2021? The Petition must be heard without fail. We want to know how the 2016 Elections were rigged and by who so that corrective measures can be taken to avoid another rigged Election in future. Rigging Elections is a serious crime and those who commit such a crime should be punished severely and in need jailed. Lungu cannot expect to steal Elections and enjoy stolen power in State House. As it is Lungu is an illegitimate President who was not democratically, legally and Constitutionally elected and inaugurated. The Chief Justice has just confirmed that she did not swear in Lungu and that a mere Clerk of the Court swore him in. That is another illegality that Lungu committed in his quest to steal the Vote and illegally cling to power.Lungu is daring Zambians by boasting that, yes he did not win the Election but he is in State House and nobody can do anything about it. In due course Zambians will get rid of this imposter from State House. Lungu Ayopa Chani? # Let the Petition be heard.

  10. Zambia is paying the price of allowing Lungu to stand as a Presidential Candidate given his criminal past record. Lungu as young practicing lawyer stole a client’s Trustee Money. Its therefore not surprising that Lungu has lived to his reputation by stealing and manipulating the 2016 Election results this time around. Lungu is a Criminal and that is why everyone who associates with him is a Criminal. Lungu in rigging the 2016 Election worked closely with fellow criminals like Kaiser Zulu,RB,Dora Siliya, the 3 muskateer Judges at Concourt, the AG and some judges at the High Court. Illegitimate Lungu can stay in State House but his approval rating is very low.Lungu will soon be de-recognised by AU,SADC and the International Community. Lungu’s Passport to Legitimacy lies in Hearing the Petition in Court. Lungu Ayopa Chani? # Let the Petition be heard. Period!!

  13. @ Brown you are too dull. Filling a petition is not a declaration the opposition has won. when you accuses some one and take him to court, it doesn’t mean that person is guilty before the matter is heard. Only the court to find him guilty or DISMISS your application.

  15. Mr President, sure was this the right place or right time or to the right audience. Mr president it is important to know when to talk about politics and when not. You have all the right to call a press conference and say every thing you want., not at such functions.
I am sure you have a good reason why you do not want HH to continue, and he has a reason why he wants to continue. If he lost its not your problem, he will be fighting a loosing war, unless you know something that every one does not know.
