Hundreds receive Muntanga’s body in Kalomo

The body of the late Kalomo Parliamentarian Request Muntanga on Monday arrived at his farm in Mukwela, Kalomo district.

Hundreds of Kalomo Residents gathered at the late’s farm to receive the body which arrived at 6pm.

It was an emotional period as residents who had lined up from Lusaka, Livingstone Road broke down as the car carrying the casket drove through.

Cadres from the UPND clad in party regalia walked side by side the car carrying the casket.

Veteran Politician Daniel Munkombwe, and widow led Kalomo Residents to receive the remains of the late Kalomo Strongman.

“It is a tragedy, ” Munkombwe who walked side by side with the widow described the situation.

Muntanga’s sons accompanied the body from the capital, Lusaka.

The body is lying in state awaiting burial on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, President Edgar Lungu has honoured Muntanga by declaring Tuesday as the day of national mourning.

Muntanga 64 died last Friday after suffering a minor stroke last month.

He served as MP for Kalomo Central for 15 years. He was one of the pillars of the UPND and served as Chairman for Mobilisation.
