Hot FM Editor mute during Police probe

Hot FM Managing Editor Changwe Kabwe Monday morning remained silent when the Police questioned him in case he is alleged to have published false news contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Police sources told Zambian Eye that the Lusaka based Radio station Editor could not say anything during the probe.

A warn and caution statement has been recorded. He is alleged to have authorized a  broadcast of news that President Micheal Sata had collapsed and had been evacuated abroad for treatment between the 26th and 27th of May 2014.

Kabwe’s lawyer Marshall Muchende explained that section 67 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia with regard to publication of false news is currently a subject of scrutiny in the High Court of Zambia on its effect on freedom of the press in Zambia.
