HH waves at supporters when he appeared for his treason case before the Magistrate court

Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hakainde this morning was brought to Lusaka magistrate court for the alleged treason charge preliminary inquiry hearing amid tight security.

Heavily armed state police and this time with Germany Shepherd dogs are being used to guard the UPND President.

When the matter resumed defence lawyer Nellie Mutti informed the court that properties phones and vehicles were seized by police from accused without seizure warranty.

Muti said that the police are now being used by the state in their operations without the accused consent.

In response the State said the properties seized were being kept as exhibits

Another defence lawyer, Keith Mweemba  said that the defence was happy that the prosecution team has conceded that the state is possession of accused property without any seizure notice.
He informed the court that what the police did was an illegality and that it should not be condoned.

Mweemba charged that they should be no seizure of private property without a seizure warranty.

He said the defence was demanding to see seizure warranty failure to do so by the state, defence will commerce criminal proceedings against the the state.

  4. The police didn’t steal enough the last time they raided HH’s house so I guess this is another excuse for them to put their filthy hands on HH’s property. They get paid peanuts so day-light robbery in the name of seizing goods is the order of the day. The police stooping so low as to steal food from somebody’s fridge! No wonder they walk around looking like they don’t three square meals a day.
