HH to grace Lwiindi Gonde ceremony

President Hakainde Hichilema (HH) will grace the 2023 Lwiindi Gonde traditional ceremony of the Tonga people of Southern province starting this Saturday, 1st July, reports Zambian Eye Correspondent.

Organisers of the annual event have confirmed that President Hichilema who has been Patron of the ceremony will officiate the event on 3rd July, 2023.

The ceremony will run from 1st to 4th July 2023 at shrine called Gonde, a thick forest 15 kilometres west of Monze town. This is the main Tonga traditional ceremony which is hosted by Chief Monze. The ceremony is held to cerebrate the harvest and first Tonga Chiefs who were believed to be Rainmakers.

And a check by Zambian Eye this week at the venue found Business people from Monze, Chisekese, Pemba and other neighbouring districts busy preparing camping trading stands.

The ceremony attracts over 3, 000 patrons across the country who come to celebrate the Tonga traditions.
