HH to defy police and distribute relief food in Lundazi – East UPND

The United Party for Nation Development (UPND) in the Eastern Province says it will go ahead and distribute relief food in areas affected by hunger despite police denying them permits to do so.

Speaking to Journalists, UPND Provincial Information and Publicity Secretary Victor Mbuzi says it is saddening that the permit allowing Hichilema to distribute relief food in Lundazi district and other affected areas has been revoked.

He says it is the duty of every Zambian to help disadvantaged citizens whether in government or opposition.

He says it is for this reason that the UPND despite being denied permits will still go ahead with their programmes as planned.

He added that it is important that the police do not allow politicians dictate to them on how to tell perform their duties.

He says the party is aware that the permits were denied because of influence from some politicians and will therefore not blame the police.

The UPND president and other senior party officials are expected in the Eastern province this week to distribute relief food to hundreds of starving families in Lumezi and other parts of the province.
