IMG-20160810-WA0000UPND presidential candidate Hakainde Hichilema has dragged Lusaka mlawyer Kelvin Bwalya Fube to court for claiming he benefited from the privatization of the mines to enrich himself at the expense of Zambians.

This is according to a writ of summons obtained by Hichilema’s lawyers Keith Mweemba Advocates and seen by Zambian Eye.

Bwalya, who is the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) vice chairperson for elections, allegedly made the sentiments while appearing on various media fora.

The PF have for a long time sought to paint Hichilema as the villain behind the controversial sale of sate owne assets – which included the mining conglomerate ZCCM – during the privatisation process carried out by the Frederick Chiluba administration.

However, documents at the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), formerly called Zambia Privatization Agency do not indicate that Hichilema played any role in the sale of the mines.
