HH says Nawakwi is a hired gun and Police is a PF security wing

UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has accused the ruling Patriotic Front party of taking over the running of the professional Zambia Police.

And Mr. Hichilema has described opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) leader Edith Nawakwi as a hired gun of the PF government.

Reacting to the Police’s decision to deny his party a permit again to have a rally in Kanyama this Sunday, Mr. Hichilema said the Police Service had been turned into an extension of the PF security wing.
“We have PF cadres such as Solomon Jere wearing our uniforms, the Zambia Police
Service union belongs to us, all of us Zambians, it’s our uniform and they are wearing it to abuse our people,” Mr. Hichilema said.
He said his party was now being denied its constitution right to mobilize and assemble its supporters.
And Mr. Hichilema has hit back at Ms Nawakwi describing her as a hired gun of the PF government.
Addressing journalists in Lusaka on Wednesday, Mr. Hichilema appealed to Ms Nawakwi to desist from attacking opposition leaders that do not attack her.
“I have avoided attacking her in public,” Mr. Hichilema said. “Please let her stop
attacking people that don’t attack her. It is just decent that she respects those that respect her.”
Mr. Hichilema said. “I have a wife and respect Madam Nawakwi.”
Mr. Hichilema alleged that the FDD leader is merely being used
by Fred M’membe and President Michael Sata.
“When M’membe and Sata want to say something, they simply summon her and she will utter their words, she is simply a hired gun of the PF,” Mr. Hichilema said.
In Wednesday edition of The Post Newspaper, Ms Nawakwi was quoted saying Mr. Hichilema is selfish and has an ego that no political party can work with him.
She said Mr. Hichilema had a singular belief that he was better than anyone else for the leadership of the country.
