HH police summons postponed to allow him to bury his aunt

Police have differed the summons for UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema to allow him attend the burial of his aunt, Chieftainess Choongo of the Tonga-speaking people of Monze District.

Hichilema was supposed to appear before police in Ndola this Wednesday for questioning in connection with the riots that took place in Kitwe a week ago.

According to a statement issued by UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma, the opposition leader will instead avail himself for questioning next week Tuesday, November 20, 2018.

“We wish to advise that the UPND President Hakainde Hichilema will not be traveling to Ndola this Wednesday 14th November 2018,” reads Kakoma’s statement.

“This is in order to allow him attend the burial ceremony of his late aunt Her Royal Highness Chieftainess Choongo of Bweengwa Constituency, in Monze District.

“Mr. Hichilema will avail himself for police summons next week on Tuesday 20th November 2018 in Ndola.

Kakoma added: “The UPND family must continue with the same spirit of being united amidst all these challenges affecting our leader.

“We commit our President in God’s hands as he goes through these trying moments.”
