HH now sues Lungu, Matibini over power transfer

United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema and his Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba have now taken a different approach by suing President-elect Edgar C. Lungu and Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibni regarding power transfer.

The constitutional court is still considering and deliberating on a Petition which was filed in by the duo, the court has however 14days in which to determined the case.

A week ago, a Lusaka laywer, Celestine Mukandila, filed the lawsuit asking the Court to interpret the  article regarding the power sharing between incumbent and Speaker of the National Assembly.

The duo are contending that President Lungu should hand over or transfer executive power to Speaker of the National Assembly.

The duo have alleged that the failure to hand over power is a breach of Article 104 of the Constitution.
