HH needs permit to attend church – Police

Police today attempted to throw United Party for National Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema out from St Joseph Catholic Church in Ndola.

Hichilema confirmed the incident on his Facebook page and thanked the Church Leadership for allowing him to attend mass.

“…Police attempted to stop us from attending mass on grounds that we did not obtain a permit to attend Church.

“We are so grateful to the Church Leadership for allowing us to join in praising the Lord, God almighty. The body of Christ is one,” the opposition leader wrote.

And according to a Press Statement released by Deputy Press Secretary to the UPND President Brian Mwiinga, the plain clothes police stormed the Church’s priest office immediately they learnt that Hichilema and his entourage will be congregating from the said church.

“The police stated that Mr Hichilema needed to have police permit for him to attend Church a statement that the church did agree with such reasoning. The police also instructed the Church that the UPND President should not be accorded a chance to interact with his fellow Christians in Church, nor speak on grounds that he has no permit to do so,” Mwiinga said

He said the mass is being under strict watch from the police under Copperbelt and Ndola command.
