MuntangaUPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has described former Kalomo Member of Parliament Request Muntanga as a very dedicated leader.
Mr Hichilema said he has received the news of Mr Muntanga’s death with shock and grief.

“Request will be missed in so many ways. We fought battle after battle alongside Request. He was a prolific debater in parliament as MP for Kalomo Central constituency, and he represented the people of Kalomo and the people of Zambia most nobly. We cannot even begin to think of how the party will function without Request,” Mr Hichilema said.

“In the height of probably the most violent by-election in the history of Zambia in Livingstone, Request led from the front and defied all manner of intimidation to ensure that UPND members campaigned in the semblance of a peaceful environment. We could go on and on eulogizing this comrade because Request did a lot of things for UPND and for Zambia as a country. In short comrades we have lost a very dedicated leader in Request.”

“Go well Request, we will meet again. To his immediate family we would like to offer our heartfelt condolences and encourage you to soldier on to ensure we deliver on his promise.” Hichilema mourned.

Muntanga 64 died at 2pm local time on  Friday July 8th, 2016 at University Teaching Hospital.

His brother Willard Muntanga confirmed to Zambian Eye.

He served as Member of Parliament from 2001 to 2016. He was a prominent Kalomo Commercial farmer.
