A latest opinion poll has again indicated that UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema would soundly beat republican President Michael Sata and other presidential candidates if elections were to be held today, reports Zambian Eye’s Limbikani Msamba

The poll conducted on Zambian Eye facebook Like Page – whose question was: “If Zambia went to the polls today, and all the existing political parties fielded their presidential candidates. Who would you vote for and why? The winning candidate must get 50 + 1 percent of the votes cast” – reached 5,694 people. A whooping 69% said they would vote for UPND’s Hichilema, citing his relative youth, economic know-how and clean record as reasons.

PF’s Sata came a distant second at 14.6% with those that voted for him saying they were impressed with his infrastructure projects. Nevers Mumba of the MMD got 1.8% while Elias Chipimo Jr of NAREP came in fourth at 0.6%. Other presidential hopefuls got no votes, while 13.4% were deemed invalid and 0.6% of the respondents said they would vote for no one.

    • Kindly desist from insulting and demeaning all Tongas. It simply shows how low and shallow your reasoning is. Democracy should excel, but not with people like u who have malfunctioning brains.

  15. i thought the UPND leader also won in opinion polls on social sites like the watchdog and Lusaka Times in 2008 and 2011 but came out a distant third in both elections, 19% in 2008 and 18% in 2009%. If I were you ba Zambianeye I would avoid pumping this nonsense into Hichilema’s head because he easily gets excited and when results go overwhelmingly against him again in 2016 he risks dying of heart attack
