Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema Saturday morning arrived in Mongu to a thunderous welcome.
Hichilema or HH as he is commonly referred to then proceeded to ward outskirt of Mongu town where he was drumming up support for the UPND candidate in Tuesday, 24th April 2018 ward by-election.
HH took advantage of the long journey on the water to campaign for the people who were traveling on the plains of Zambezi river. He said once elected president in 2021, he will ensure that the water transport is improved.
The UPND president who campaigned in the plans as he headed to Malabo area was druming up support for the UPND local government by-election candidate Muyongo Muyongo in Lealui Lower ward.
“We want to be a grassroot party and a mass movement that is unstoppable to ensuring good governance and economic development for all,” stated HH who earlier arrived in Mongu where last year he was alleged to have committed treason from by obstructing a presidential motorcade.
HH is expected to meet party officials later and will leave Mongu and hold campaigns in Nampundwe in Central province before flying to Copperbelt province tomorrow for a series of campaigns.
