HH with his team meeting Human Rights Commissioners

Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema and his Vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba have met the Human Rights Commission in Zambia to brief them on the injustices and human rights abuse going on in the country.

Hichilema or HH as he famously referred confirmed the development on his Facebook update Tuesday evening. He said the meeting took place earlier in the afternoon.

Good evening fellow citizens,

This afternoon with our Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, National Chairperson Mutale Nalumango and national Youth Spokesperson Gilbert Liswaniso we held a closed door meeting with the commissioners of Human Rights Commission in Zambia as part of our ongoing engagements with both local and international bodies.

We wish to state here that our meeting was cordial as it addressed a number of issues bordering on the human rights situation in the country.

During the meeting, we indicated that the purpose of the meeting was to brief and remind them of various injustices going on in the country.

We stated that as we engage other international human rights institutions, it was important for us to inform them of our steps in protecting human life and justice in the country.

We pointed how civil liberties and rights as provided for intended the constitution have been lost due to the repressive environment obtaining.

We however, sympathized with them knowing too well that they, too are working under very difficult environment and contrained in terms of financial resources to do more.

During the meeting, we also heard how they are monitoring human injustices going on in the country but we called on them to act decisively so that they cannot be seen to be supporting injustices and blatant violations of people’s rights such as the right to freely assemble as provided for by the constitution and other liberties.

Ours, is to defend and protect both human rights and life, and we can assure the nation that we will stand by our words because not doing so is tantamount to hypocrisy and dictatorship.

Have a good night all of you,

And may God Bless our country.

  1. HH and your GBV grow up chaps and learn to respect other peoples government. Moreover we have the government, of which your pretense to protect human life is already in place what else do you. Don’t even waste your little resource calling upon all law enforcing agencies to assemble for hidden meetings. You are not just feet for political race only the fittest finish the margin.

  2. Does Lungu and his fellow criminals know that Zambia has a Bill of Rights where the Rights to be heard in Court,to assemble, associate and freedom of expression are enshrined? These Constitutional Rights are Fundamental and Universal. The illegitimate Lungu Regime is abrogating the Zambian Constitution by violating these rights. By so doing Lungu is committing crimes against humanity and war crimes by using the military to commit crimes. Lungu must know that he will not remain in power forever. The Petition must heard and disposed off no matter how long it takes. Lungu Ayopa Chani?# Let the Petition be heard in Court without further delays.

  3. You know what? When you are guilty of doing something wrong you will try by all means to shield justice. If PF and it’s carders are innocent let the petition be heard without interference. Chapwa.

  4. They should also tell them why people lost their property to vandalism when they voted for PF in southern province last year , the violence people suffered after elections.
