Lungu greets former Botswana president

Zambians today celebrated Independence Golden Jubilee accross the country and our Correspondent say many citizens were clad in their country’s national flag colours.

In the capital, Acting President Edgar Lungu graced the occusion. President Lungu first lead two former presidents, Defence Chiefs and Dignitories lay wreads at the Freedom Statue in memory of those who died during the struggle.

Later the proceedings moved to National Heroes where a number of activities had been linned up. The event was attended by among others Former Presidents of South Africa Thabo Mbeki, Malawi’s Bakili Muluzi and Botswana Festus Mogae.

26 countries were represented at the event whose celebrations begun on October 23. Below are some photograps.
