We wish you all a joyous and prayerful Easter with your loved ones.

This Easter we find that as a country we are going through a trying period in which difficult economic circumstances have led to rising prices, job losses and decreased business activity. As a result many of our fellow countrymen and women are struggling, whether with putting food on the table, sending children to school or paying for medical care of relatives.

It is against this backdrop that the Easter message speaks loudly and clearly to Zambia in 2016, reminding us through God’s grace and sacrifice there is always hope. It reminds us also that there is great strength in peace and unity.

Reflecting on God’s great sacrifice in his son Jesus Christ who he gave so that our sins could be cleansed, we should not take this gift in vain but must work together to honour that sacrifice by caring for our fellow brothers and sisters at all times, not discriminating based on age, gender, tribe, ability, political affiliation or any other factor.

In this spirit let us commit to care and love of one another and be humbled by the work of our creator, God almighty. As a Christian nation we must each fulfill our duty to live by these values each and every day. It is also time that we personally ensure that this declaration as a Christian nation is safeguarded, this will be achieved by our actions which should include living in peace and harmony.
