Guy Scott now says he qualifies to Act as President

In what looks to be clear that all is not well and leaders are positioning themselves in the Patriotic Front government, Vice president Guy Scott now says he qualifies to Act as President  in the absence of President Sata.

Speaking this morning, July 18, 2014 during Vice President’s Question Time in Parliament, Dr. Scott charged that he duly qualifies to act as President. He said the parentage clause has been misunderstood by the Zambian people.

Dr. Scott said the law does not bar him from Acting as President in the absence of the President adding that this has been supported by the Judiciary and the Law Association of Zambia.

From the time PF formed government President Sata has never left Dr. Scott to act but in stead has been appointing Ministers to Act.

A fortnight ago, Dr. Scott said him, Given Lubinda and Mulenga Sata were barred to run for the presidency by the parentage clause introduced in 1996.  The clause only allows one to run for the presidency if both parents are Zambians.

The clause was introduced by then President Frederick Chiluba to bar Kenneth Kaunda first president who had returned to politics and wanted to contest the 1996 elections.
