Guy Scott fires Edgar Lungu as Chipili MP refuse to take over

Acting President Guy Scott has fired Edgar Lungu as Patriotic Front Secretary General, reports Zambian Eye Correspondent.

And Chipili PF Member of Parliament Davis Mwila has turned down the appointment to serve as General Secretary.

Dr. Scott who is also PF Vice president said Lungu had been in relieved of his position in the ruling party. No reason had been given for the decision.

Lungu serves as Defence and Justice Minister. He is the one who was left to Act as President by President Sata.

Dr Scott had appointed Davis Mwila to take over the position of party Secretary General but he has turned it down.

Mwila said he cannot accept the offer because he is mourning President Sata. He said it was not the right time for Guy Scott to start making such decisions when the country is mourning.

Mwila last year resigned as Deputy Minister of Defence.

This development will deepen the in-fighting in the PF as many factions have emerged following the death of President Sata in London on October 28, 2014.
