Grade 11 pupil kills self for not wanting to be a financial burden to family

Just before taking her own life, she sent an emotional, and touching message to a friend, chronicling the extent of her pain and worry.

Justifying the reason to kill herself, she poured her heart out explaining that her stomach tumor had not been getting any better, adding that she was now worried that her family could no longer afford her medical bills.

Isabel Funyinya, a Grade 11 pupil at Arakan Girls School, tragically took her own life yesterday after as she thought her long illness was placing too much financial strain on her family.

In her own words, as reported by NKANI, she wrote:

“I just want to enjoy my life while it lasts. I have a tumor in my stomach which has been growing but the doctors didn’t notice.

“Now it’s bleeding from the inside and I’m vomiting blood. My dad has no money yet to pay for the bills so I needed to come home.

“I’ve been a burden to my parents. They don’t need to tell me or show me I can just see it.

“My dad has been trying to finish his house but because I’m always needing medical attention that isn’t happening.

“It’s not that I’m posting for attention. Unexpected death hurts more than when you had an idea it was going to happen. I understand my situation and I’ve accepted it, so don’t worry.”
