Govt not siding any PF faction – Mwiimbu

Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Jack Mwiimbu says the United Party for National Development (UPND) will not side with any Patriotic Front (PF) faction as their duty is to protect everyone involved.

Mwiimbu says government has no involvement in the Intra party fights the PF is experiencing.

He adds that security was provided at PF Secretariat to prevent bloodshed as they had information that the two factions would clash.

Mwiimbu says the Secretariat is located in the Central Business District (CBD) and that could have affected businesses of innocent people and as such security was necessary.

He says police conducted an assessment which informed them that Miles Sampa could go ahead with his programme on 24th October and security was provided in accordance.

He has however stated that, these matters are still before court, and it is important to allow the process to be concluded.

The Patriotic Front are currently going through leadership wrangles with two factions led by the former President Edgar Lungu and Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa.
