Govt implores stakeholders to up fight against non-communicable diseases

chilufya-chitalu-e1441452519677Government has called for concerted efforts by all stakeholders to scale up a national multi-sectoral approach in combating non-communicable diseases.

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya made the appeal this morning when he officially opened the joint mission of the United Nations Inter-Age Task Force on the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases in Zambia.

He observed that non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, cancers among others call for people to avoid abuse of alcohol, reduce on tobacco use and adhere to balanced diet coupled with physical exercises.

And Dr Chilufya has disclosed that the formulation of legislation is underway to encourage food safety in Zambia to cut down on non-communicable diseases.
