Govt admits sanctions, calls for calm

The Zambian Government has confirmed that the Africa Development Bank (AfDB) has imposed sanctions on the county, reports Zambian Eye Correspondent in Lusaka.

Government through it’s Chief Spokesperson, Dora Siliya has confirmed the development calling on Citizens not to panic.

These fiscal sanctions on Zambia and according to a press statement from Ministry of Finance frantic efforts are being made to settle the outstanding payment.

This follows the failure by Zambia to clear monthly payment of loan interest arrears of $1.4million.

Zambia, Sudan, Somalia and Zimbabwe were sanctioned over the failure to meet monthly commitments.

  1. PF cant find $1.4m? You Zambian Christians better pray a little harder for relief.
    SMDH at this idiot government, but busy trying to alienate the countries who provide them with aid, because said countries voice concern about the unfairness of sentences for consenting homosexuals vs. PF plunderers of public resources.

    • We’ve been praying and praying and declaring our country a Christian state but the prayers have n’t stopped the drought and haven’t strengthened the Kwacha. We are just as bad if not worse than our neighbors In the whole of Africa we are the only ones who have national prayers but there’s nothing to show for these. We must remove the declaration from our constitution

      • They use prayer as a means of pacifying the masses. People have become like sheep, repeating stupid phrases like ‘Zambia is a Christian nation’ as if this mantra will solve any problems.
        Remember white people also used Christianity to pacify slaves …
