Government moves in to audit KCM

The Zambian government has begun auditing Konkola Copper Mine (KCM), the country’s biggest Copper Mine.

This follows revelations in a video by its majority shareholder and chairman Anil Agarwal recently boasting that he bought the mine so cheap and he was making a billion dollars profit.

But KCM has been complaining that it is making losses and last year almost laid about 2, 500 of its employees.

Vice President Dr. Guy Scott urday, May 31, 2014 that the goverment has moved in to audit KCM.

He told ZNBC in an interview that Officers from the Zambia Revenue Authority are on the ground to get every detail about the tax compliance of the mining giant.
