Germany Journalist “sneaks into” a mine area in Chambishi

Rebecca Stegmann, aged 30, believed to be a German national and freelance journalist has been accused of having traspassed into NFC African Mining in Kalusale area, Chambishi.

Rebecca according to Police was found speaking with some residents in Kalusale.

“Chambishi Police Station received a report of trespass that occurred on September 30, 2025, around 13:30 hours at NFC African Mining in Kalusale area, Chambishi,” Police Service
Assistant Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi
stated in a statement.

This happened when Sino mine police officers were conducting routine patrols.

Cilabi explains that Rebecca was later taken by mine police officers to Chambishi Police Station, where, after verifications, she was cautioned and advised to always follow the laid-down procedures and obtain permission from management before engaging in any activities within the mine’s area.

Sino mine has been making international headlines following alleged pollution that led the United States withdraw its Citizens from some parts of the Copperbelt province.
