Funeral procession for BY Mwila underway

Defence forces carry the body of BY Mwila when it arrives at the KK International Airport from South Africa where he died from.

The burial procession for the late former Defence Minister Benjamin Mwila popularly known as BY is underway in the Zambian capital Lusaka.

The procession started Thursday morning, August 22, 2013 at Cathedral of Child Jesus where a church service was held. This will be followed by pay of last respect before burial at Memorial Park.

Mwila 70 who died last Saturday has been given a three days of National mourning during which flags are flying at half-mast with all entertainment programmes suspended until today at 6pm.

He will be remembered as having played a key role in bring up democracy in 1990 by financing the MMD and raised over 200 000 pounds as party treasury.
