Frank Bwalya’s party Alliance for a Better Zambia (ABZ) says it will back the ruling party – Patriotic Front in the forthcoming by-elections in Chawama, Masaiti and Senga Hill.
Secretary General Mulenga Shula said in statement that ABZ will not field candidates but support the ruling party because the two parties were still in an alliance entered into during the Presidential by-election.
“We wish to remind our members and the general public that the electoral pact which Alliance for Better Zambia entered into with the Patriotic Front has continued. As such, our party will not put up candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary by-elections in Chawama, Masaiti and Senga Hill. Instead we shall rally behind the candidates that our alliance partner Patriotic Front will adopt,” Ms Shula said in a statement to Zambian Eye on Thursday.
Ms Shula says all ABZ members including Party President Frank Bwalya will campaign for the PF candidates in the three constituencies.
She says she is sure that PF will adopt popular candidates who will not only add value to the lineup of PF members of parliament but deliver development to their constituencies and strengthen the party.
