FODEP wants clarity on Bill of Rights

The Foundation for Democratic Process has called on Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula to clearly state what contents in the Bill of Rights will be taken to the referendum.
FODEP notes that with the absence of a legal framework and proper roadmap in the constitution making process, there is need for transparency to ensure that a people driven constitution is delivered on time.

Still on the constitution, All Peoples Congress Leader Nason Msoni says the clause in the constitution that requires political parties to provide one thousand supporters when filling in nominations is not progressive and will disadvantage some political parties.

In an interview, Mr. Msoni said the clause is problematic as most political parties will face logistical challenges when mobilizing.

The number of supporters Presidential candidates are supposed to provide when filling in nominations has been revised from 200 to 1000 supporters in the constitution bill that was recently passed in parliament.
