Fish ban was aimed at mitigating Cholera outbreak – Minister

Fisheries and Live Stock Minister Kampamba Mulenga has said that government will lift the Fish Ban imposed in all parts of the country once the fishing areas are certified by health inspectors.

Ms Mulenga told Parliament Tuesday afternoon that government put the Ban as part of mitigating measures put to stop the spread of Cholera.

“The Ministry working with other line Ministries that includes Health reached a conclusion to extend the fish Ban to April 30as a way to curtail cholera spread,” she said.

Meanwhile Energy Minister Methews Nkuwa confirmed that the country has a shortage of ZESCO Electricity Prepaid Meters.

Responding to Mwinilunga Member of Parliament, Mr. Samakayi,  the Minister said the shortage has been caused by 50,000 recalled meters that had faults.

Nkuwa however said the shortage will come to an end in the next three weeks when the company delivers a proper consignment.

And the Energy Minister has revealed that over 10 companies have applied to set up different Megawatts energy Generating Plants.

He said once approved, the country will have improved and increased energy sources.
