Fight for Mazabuka Mayor position: Buumba threatens to expose Councillor Sakala

Mazabuka Mayor Lloyd Buumba has rubbished claims that he is part of a United Party for National Development (UPND) tribal clique in Mazabuka district against the candidature of Councillor Stanley Sakala in vying for the position of Mazabuka mayoral seat.

Buumba who is also UPND Southern Province vice chairperson was reacting to claims by well placed UPND sources who accused him and Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament (MP) Garry Nkombo of scheming up a tribal clique to de-campaign Mazabuka Deputy Mayor Stanley Sakala who is the front runner of the Mazabuka mayoral seat.

Buumba told Maz fm News that despite having problems with Sakala, in 2011 when he was UPND Mazabuka district chairperson he adopted Sakala using the same name wondering why this time around they are accusing him of being tribal.

The Mazabuka Mayor who is not eligible to re-contest the forthcoming mayoral elections says that if the Ngwezi ward Councillor, Stanley Sakala, has failed to convince fellow councillors to vote for him he must stop peddling baseless accusations adding that people know that Sakala is not capable of running the district.

Buumba said that before he went to the province, he adopted Councillor Sakala twice using the same name adding that Sakala never changed his name to Hasakala to be adopted.

Buumba has warned Councillor Sakala to stop accusing him of being tribal and warning him that he knows a lot about him that if he does not stop accusing him and the Mazabuka Central MP of being tribal he may be forced to release a dossier full of information to expose Sakala of his negative vice.

The UPND Southern Province vice chairperson who will be handing over the Mazabuka mayoral seat next month further stated that he may be forced not to support Councillor Sakala who has always been fighting him.

The five UPND Councillors in Mazabuka district who have expressed interest for the mayoral ship in Mazabuka district include, Fines Mulima the Munjile ward Councillor whom the party in the district is purported to be supporting, Richard Malambo of Mwanachingwala ward, Amon Shanabwato of Kalama, Stansilouse Mweene of Chivuna, and the current Deputy Mayor Stanley Sakala the Ngwezi ward councillor.
