Father accused of incest: sticking fingers into daughter’s vagina
A man from Goshwe village who allegedly had sex with his daughter,13, before fingering his 9-year-old daughter, is fighting for freedom at the Francis town magistrate court, reports The Voice Newspaper of Botswana.
34-year-old Yega Morgan, who is currently locked away at the Francis town state prison,on Monday requested bail at the Francis town magistrate’s court.
Morgan who lives with his girlfriend and their seven (7) children allegedly raped his daughters this independence while their mother was attending a funeral in Zimbabwe.
Police arrested him a week after the incident and locked him away to protect the girls.
The prosecutor Paphidzo Kuda argued against his bail request saying he is likely to be a danger to the children and may not attend court as required.
“Our investigations have shown that he is too abusive. He is likely to even threaten the mother of his children not to testify. We once received reports that he threatened his girlfriend,” court heard.
The investigating officer Gabarate Hompo who was called to cement the prosecution case said there is a possibility of additional charge of indecent charge against him.
“Our fear is that releasing him will jeopardize the ongoing investigations,” Hompo told the court.
Police said they are likely to register fresh charges at Masunga magistrate court in a few weeks.
Meanwhile, Masunga magistrate Goratile Moremi-Ramakoloi has postponed ruling for a bail application would be made next week Monday.
