The Mongu Magistrate Court has convicted and sentenced former Lewanika General Hospital Accountant to 7 months imprisonment with hard labour
for corrupt practices involving over K42,000.
According to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Acting Head-Corporate Communications, Dr. Dorothy Mzumara Muchindu Muyaba of Mongu, aged 42 years has been imprisoned for Failure to declare Interest
Dr. Mzumara said they arrested and charged Muyaba with 1 count of Failure to Declare Interest on 20th April 2021 as it is contrary to the ACC Act.
“Details are that Muchindu Muyaba whilst working as an Accounts Assistant at Lewanika School of Nursing and Midwifery on dates unknown but between 10th October 2017 and
13th November 2018 in Mongu District did fail to declare interest in writing by processing 3 payments amounting to K42,400 to Twakomana Business Ventures, a company
owned by his wife for the supply of food stuffs to Lewanika School of Nursing and Midwifery,
a public body,” Dr Mzumara said.
