EU in the country to follow up on electoral reforms

The European Union (EU) has sent a delegation to follow up on its recommendations made after the 2016 General Elections. The delegation was led by Alessandro Mariani and Cecile Kyenge, the Head of European Union Follow up Mission and Member of the EU Parliament.

Mariani and Kyenge together with their delegation paid a courtesy call on Republican President Edgar Lungu at House and Minister of Information and Broadcasting Dora Siliya at her office in Lusaka on Wednesday.

And President Lungu has bemoaned tribalism and regional voting in elections. He said voting on tribe lines is very common in Zambia and Africa in general.

And Mariani said his delegation is in the country to follow on its recommendation during the 2016 General Elections.

Meanwhile, Siliya, when called upon by the delegation leader, said the government has started implementation of the recommended changes in the management of elections during the 2016 elections.

She said recently government led the National Dialogue Forum (NDF) and legislation on Electoral management and Public Order Act were tabled and it’s on the process to be revealed.

  2. Are these issues you can tell the EU? What has it got to do with Electoral reforms? Who is championing tribalism? This man´s thinking and uterrances are difficult to understand.
