Editorial: Seeing and hearing Sata addressing Parliament

Seeing President Michael Sata in the last three occasions after he went quite for close to three months, even if we are not medical experts, It is clear that he is not well and was not well the period the nation was being told he was ‘fit and carrying on his duties’.

Can the President’s handlers and PF government be trusted on this issue after all this? Can his handlers still insist that the President was and is well and carrying his duties as expected? These are honest questions seeking honest answers.

We were terrified to see the Man struggling to address Parliament yesterday. He could not read the whole speech prepared for the event. His voice sounded different. He did his best one can do under the circumstance but why do we have to let him go through all this pain?

President Sata still needs some rest and not to be ‘paraded’ in public in that state. It is being inhuman to say the least. We are surprised that his wife, Christine Kaseba who is a medical Doctor cannot prevail on her husband or she has failed to do so. This is sad! Life is more important than anything else.

We call upon the nation to pray for Mr. Sata. He needs our prayers and support during this difficult period. It is sad that he finds himself in this condition barely three years into his presidency. The best of course he can do is to accept the conditions he finds himself and take a rest.
