Disputed coroner’s report on the death of NDC official worries private investigator

A Lusaka-based Private Investigator has described as worrisome the dispute that has arisen following the release of the autopsy report on the death of Lusaka Province NDC Youth Chairman Obed Kasongo (pictured).

In apparent reference to the statement by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) rubbishing the coroner’s report, an investigator who sought anonymity says the professional findings by the coroner’s office must be respected.

The investigator who works for VDK Private Investigators and Detectives, a company based in Lusaka, said he would also advise those who dispute the findings to engage a private investigator to get to the bottom of the matter.

According to coroner’s autopsy which was done on Kasongo, 52, the deceased did not suffer any trauma at the time of his death. The autopsy also showed that Kasongo was treated for hypertension and severe malaria.

In his expert analysis of the coroner’s report, the private investigator said everything official must be considered legitimate unless there has been an independent investigation to ascertain that it is not.

“Before answering this question, we would like to point out that is an independent, non-political investigation firm. We are not aligned to any political party. To conduct political related investigations and analysis. One of such cases require us to get on the ground and analyze whether a particular issue is influenced by politics,” he told Zambian Eye.

“As VDK Private Investigators, our professional advise is for the aggrieved part to seek independent investigation from reputable company. We can’t just say the coroners report was tempered with, without providing evidence.”

Meanwhile NDC leadership led by Chishimba Kambwili have insisted that Kasongo died as the result of wounds he sustained after allegedly being hacked by Lusaka Province Minister, Bowman Lusambo.
