MMD claims that it has received information that the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) government plans to arrest former Petauke Central Member of Parliament Dora Siliya.

Party leader Nevers Mumba disclosed on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 that the ruling party intends to use Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) to arrest Siliya to jeopardize her move to re-contesting the seat. He said the officers at DEC have confided the party and warned them about the planned scheme.

Mumba said it was unfortunate that the PF was now abusing State Security wings to harass innocent citizens in order to advance its political agenda. He said the MMD will not seat and watch its members being abused.

The MMD leader has since warned that his party will be ready to meet the evil plans against its member.

Mumba also revealed that one of the threats on Siliya has since come to pass. He said Siliya was given the option to either join the Patriotic Front or have her parliamentary seat nullified.

He alleged that a named lawyer who is also a senior PF official had threatened Siliya that her seat would be nullified if she did not join the PF. Mumba said Siliya’s seat has since been nullified adding that one of the members of the MMD also revealed how the PF coerced her to testify in the election petition.
