DEC arrests three former MTN employees

Two former MTN employees of Lusaka have been arrested for money laundering activities involving K1.3 million.

Shadreck Lungu, 40, and Zachariah Zulu, 43, have been arrested and jointly charged with theft by servant, fraudulent false accounting and money laundering contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) Public Relations Officer, Theresa Katongo, has told ZANIS in a statement issued in Lusaka today.

Ms Katongo disclosed that the duo was arrested through the DEC’s Anti-Money Laundering Investigations Unit.

She said the duo further did engage directly or indirectly in business transactions involving proceeds of crime in which one residential property has since been seized by the DEC.

And Ms Katongo also said the commission has arrested David Chiyesu, 49, a businessman of Lusaka for forgery, uttering of false documents and obtaining money by false pretences contrary to the laws of Zambia.

Ms Katongo said all the three suspects are currently on police bond and will appear in court soon.
